Okay FINALLY getting to some more of our wedding day posts. Almost 4 months later ha!
The night before our wedding was the first time that I think it really hit me that I was actually getting married. It was so hard not getting to sleep next to Jaime that night. I’m not a big fan of whoever started the tradition of the bride and groom not getting to see each other until the ceremony HA.
The day started off by someone calling my hotel room before my alarm went off (so that wasn’t cool). Still don’t know who it was haha but I wasn’t all that thrilled about it at the time. All of my bridesmaids came down to my room first thing in the morning and we headed over to the buffet for breakfast. I was so nervous that we were going to run into Jaime ha. I made sure to text him where we were at so he could stay away. We piled up big plates of food and brought them back to our villa so we could start getting ready. I was doing my own hair for the big day – which was terrifying haha. I had been pinning hairstyles for months and never really found anything that I loved. Also, my hair would NOT hold a curl very well with how humid it was. I tried curling my hair the 4 days before the dinner and everything just kind of fell flat and got frizzy. It probably took me at least 20 tries to get my braids right but in the end I couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out.
^I can’t get enough of these dresses! They were so comfortable and fit perfectly with our Mexico wedding!
^ I need to take a minute and talk about this scrap book. It was the one of the most thoughtful gifts I have ever been given. My friend Heather put it together and had so many of my loved ones write me a letter. I will forever cherish this. Love you Heath!!
All week long I was SO nervous about the weather. Our wedding ceremony and reception were planned to be outdoors starting at 4pm. The weather was absolutely gorgeous… until about noon and then it started down pouring. I wish I had a picture to show you guys. Our wedding coordinator stopped by my room and told me that the weather was not going to pass and we had to move everything inside. Here I’m thinking, all of my friends and family just flew down to Mexico to see me get married in the ugliest room I’ve ever seen? I may have been being a little dramatic but I’m also an Interior Designer and that was just not my dream for our beach wedding haha. Of course this made me SUPER emotional and I couldn’t get a hold of Jaime to figure out what our game plan was going to be because he was trying to get ready and our photographer was trying to take the groomsmen pictures. I had like 20 people in my room between my bridal party, our moms and a few family members so I may or may not have locked myself in the bathroom to get away from everyone. Like you know when you are so upset and everyone just tries to talk to you and tell you how it will all be okay and that just makes you cry even more? Seeing as my makeup was already done I was trying my hardest to not ruin it with all my tears. I obviously knew that either way I was getting to marry my favorite person in the world but I also wanted everything to be perfect – which meant a wedding on the beach. I finally got a hold of Jaime and he talked to our coordinator to figure out what our options were for having the ceremony outside (I sure do love my sweet husband). The weather was starting to clear up but we didn’t know how long it was going to last. We decided we were going to risk it and have the ceremony outside even if that meant no music, no microphones, and potentially getting rained on. 4 o’clock rolled around and it was finally time. I dreamed about this my entire life and it was finally here. The rain held off and we ended up getting our perfect ceremony – although everyone ended up with a wet butt because all of the chairs were soaked ha! The sun even peaked out as I walked down the aisle.
By far my favorite day ever.
love, nicole b
