A 4 month difference. The physical changes are of A 4 month difference. The physical changes are of course so rewarding, but it’s so much more than that. I’ve started my “health and fitness” journey so many times. I have countless “before” pictures but never stuck with it long enough to ever take an “after”. What’s changed is my why. I started exercising consistently earlier this year but my “why” was because I was having lower back pain. I’m 29 years old. I was 1 year postpartum after having my 3rd baby in 4 years. My why changed. I wasn’t doing this to “look good” anymore. I was doing this to get strong. For myself and for my daughters. That sounds easier said than done and I get that. I’ve been there. I wake up before 6am everyday to get my workout in before the girls get up. I found what type of exercise brings me joy. I started with @kelseywells program and a couple pairs of dumbbells. I had never lifted before but found out I truly love it. I found a friend who’s goals aligned with mine. @everydayfitwithbrit kept me consistent. Twice a week for the past 4 months all I’ve had to do is show up and she has the equipment and workout ready to go. Not only that, but she is really the first person I’ve ever heard about plant based eating from. She didn’t push me to try it or ever question my previous nutrition choices but I gained a lot of knowledge from hearing her talk about her own habits. That’s why it’s so important to surround yourself with people who have the same goals as you. I thought time and time again that I should learn to count macros and that was the only was I was going to take my journey to the next level. But the thing that held me back from that was my daughters. It’s important to me that my girls learn healthy habits and I know that counting macros works great for a lot of people, but for me, I didn’t want my little girls to see that in order to be healthy I had to track everything I ate and weigh my food before putting it on my plate. I had followed @earthyandy for a while and decided.. (continued in caption)

We’re Pregnant

October 8, 2017

Well… the news is out! Baby Becher is due in March! I wanted to share the story on how we found out, because it was one of the best days of my life. On June 25th I came down with a bad cold, like worse than I’ve ever had before. Okay maybe I am being dramatic but I was miserable ha. I had a suspicion that I was pregnant but at the same time I didn’t know if I just wanted to be so bad that I was just hoping that I was. It was still too soon for me to take a test, but I wanted to be cautious with taking medication and I got the worst night’s sleep! The next day, I called my doctor’s office and asked the nurse what medication I was allowed to take. I felt so silly saying well I don’t know if I’m pregnant yet but I just want to be on the safe side!

Fast forward to Friday, June 30th. This was the day I had planned for the past 2 weeks to take my first pregnancy test. Let me just tell you, the two week wait is so real and will be the longest two weeks of your life ha! I asked Jaime if he would want to be there when I took it or if he wanted to be surprised. He of course said I could choose, but followed with “I like surprises!” I had off of work on that Friday so as soon as Jaime left for work I took the test immediately! It was a roller coaster of emotions. I wanted so bad to be pregnant, but I was also so nervous. The tests I bought were supposed to have two lines if I was pregnant and one line if I wasn’t. Well I took the test and waited the 3 minutes (which was THE LONGEST 3 minutes of my life ha) and it was hard to tell but it looked like there was a very faint positive! I had such a mix of emotions because it wasn’t a strong positive. I was only like 80% sure it was. I decided to go to Target and get the tests that actually say Pregnant or Not Pregnant so it was a black and white answer. I took the new test as soon as I got home and sure enough, POSITIVE! I was in complete shock. I couldn’t believe it. I was filled with so many emotions! Jaime had a half day of work – thank goodness because I don’t think I could have waited all day! I gave him a cute little box when he go home filled with the positive tests, a couple pacifiers that said “I love Daddy”, and a onesie that said “Baby Bear.” I of course was wearing the matching “Mama Bear” shirt (I couldn’t resist the cuteness)!

We are so excited and can’t wait to meet our sweet baby!

Love, Nicole B
