A 4 month difference. The physical changes are of A 4 month difference. The physical changes are of course so rewarding, but it’s so much more than that. I’ve started my “health and fitness” journey so many times. I have countless “before” pictures but never stuck with it long enough to ever take an “after”. What’s changed is my why. I started exercising consistently earlier this year but my “why” was because I was having lower back pain. I’m 29 years old. I was 1 year postpartum after having my 3rd baby in 4 years. My why changed. I wasn’t doing this to “look good” anymore. I was doing this to get strong. For myself and for my daughters. That sounds easier said than done and I get that. I’ve been there. I wake up before 6am everyday to get my workout in before the girls get up. I found what type of exercise brings me joy. I started with @kelseywells program and a couple pairs of dumbbells. I had never lifted before but found out I truly love it. I found a friend who’s goals aligned with mine. @everydayfitwithbrit kept me consistent. Twice a week for the past 4 months all I’ve had to do is show up and she has the equipment and workout ready to go. Not only that, but she is really the first person I’ve ever heard about plant based eating from. She didn’t push me to try it or ever question my previous nutrition choices but I gained a lot of knowledge from hearing her talk about her own habits. That’s why it’s so important to surround yourself with people who have the same goals as you. I thought time and time again that I should learn to count macros and that was the only was I was going to take my journey to the next level. But the thing that held me back from that was my daughters. It’s important to me that my girls learn healthy habits and I know that counting macros works great for a lot of people, but for me, I didn’t want my little girls to see that in order to be healthy I had to track everything I ate and weigh my food before putting it on my plate. I had followed @earthyandy for a while and decided.. (continued in caption)

Week 31

January 10, 2018

TWO MORE MONTHS!

I am so grateful for this sweet little baby who has already made such an impact on our lives.

I am thankful that I have had a healthy pregnancy so far.

Having a healthy pregnancy doesn’t mean its been easy though.

I think it’s safe to say, no pregnancy is easy.

The transformations our bodies go through in just 40 weeks time is astonishing.

I found myself this week wishing this pregnancy could be over now.

I want to be able to work out again without being in pain, I want to be able to put pants on without being in pain.

But what I want way more than either of those things, is a healthy baby.

So I am thankful for all the nausea, the pain, and the discomfort.

Pregnancy truly is a miracle and I think that’s easily forgotten.

I am grateful that I am able to carry this sweet little baby <3

How Far Along: 31 Weeks & 5 Days

How Big is Baby: The size of a pineapple!

16.18 inches & 3.31 lbs

Movement: Baby is always wiggling around. At our last ultrasound we got to see what position baby was in. It’s fun being able to know and feel where their head is and where their feet are.

Feeling: 30 weeks was definitely the point that I found myself being over being pregnant. But like I said before, I am so grateful to be able to carry our baby and all the discomfort is 100% worth it!

Nursery Update: The nursery hasn’t made any progress since last week! I think until my baby shower it will pretty much be on hold so I can figure out what I have and what we still need.

Working Out: Jaime and I have actually been going to the gym pretty consistantly this past week. I feel so silly going to the gym and staying for 20 minutes and then leaving, but hey its better than nothing. My workouts look pretty much like this:

12 Bicep Curls

12 Should Press

12 Squats

12 Lateral Raises

12 Overhead Tricep Extensions

12 Squats

Repeat that 3 times!

Sleep: Up usually one or two times a night for the bathroom, and still multiple times for a sip of water, but overall sleeping has been great!

Random: I have my next appointment on Friday. I always get so excited to hear our little baby’s heartbeat!

We also started birth class yesterday! We have it every Tuesday night for the rest of January. Yesterday we learned about all the stages of labor, contractions and when you should be going to the hospital or calling your doctor, and techniques on how to cope through natural labor. Even after just one class Jaime and I both feel like it was worth it to take! Oh and to start the class we all had to go around the room and introduce ourselves and one of the questions was to say if you were having a boy or girl. Well we were the only ones out of like 10 couples who were keeping it a surprise. I want to know so bad! 2 more months! I am hoping not knowing somehow will make labor a little easier since I will have that extra bit of motivation of getting to finally find out if we have a son or a daughter!

We just can’t wait to meet our little babe <3

Love,

Nicole B
