A 4 month difference. The physical changes are of A 4 month difference. The physical changes are of course so rewarding, but it’s so much more than that. I’ve started my “health and fitness” journey so many times. I have countless “before” pictures but never stuck with it long enough to ever take an “after”. What’s changed is my why. I started exercising consistently earlier this year but my “why” was because I was having lower back pain. I’m 29 years old. I was 1 year postpartum after having my 3rd baby in 4 years. My why changed. I wasn’t doing this to “look good” anymore. I was doing this to get strong. For myself and for my daughters. That sounds easier said than done and I get that. I’ve been there. I wake up before 6am everyday to get my workout in before the girls get up. I found what type of exercise brings me joy. I started with @kelseywells program and a couple pairs of dumbbells. I had never lifted before but found out I truly love it. I found a friend who’s goals aligned with mine. @everydayfitwithbrit kept me consistent. Twice a week for the past 4 months all I’ve had to do is show up and she has the equipment and workout ready to go. Not only that, but she is really the first person I’ve ever heard about plant based eating from. She didn’t push me to try it or ever question my previous nutrition choices but I gained a lot of knowledge from hearing her talk about her own habits. That’s why it’s so important to surround yourself with people who have the same goals as you. I thought time and time again that I should learn to count macros and that was the only was I was going to take my journey to the next level. But the thing that held me back from that was my daughters. It’s important to me that my girls learn healthy habits and I know that counting macros works great for a lot of people, but for me, I didn’t want my little girls to see that in order to be healthy I had to track everything I ate and weigh my food before putting it on my plate. I had followed @earthyandy for a while and decided.. (continued in caption)

Kitchen Remodel

January 12, 2018

I am so excited to finally be sharing our kitchen remodel!

It has come a long way since we purchased the house and I am so so happy it is finally finished!

We bought our house in August of 2016. The whole thing needed to be remodeled… especially the kitchen. But we had a vision of how great this space could truly be and it has exceeded all of our expectations. I literally had plans drawn up for our future kitchen before we even wrote an offer!

Here is the before picture of the kitchen! This was before we actually purchased the house and just went to look at it for the first time. The seller’s didn’t clean up for us so it was a complete disaster. Thankfully both Jaime and I were able to see through the mess and realize how great of a house this could be with a little love!

Before

After

The after picture just makes me so happy.

Here are a few more pictures of the finished kitchen!

^My sweet husband got me these beautiful flowers for our anniversary!

With the help of our family & friends, we did majority of the kitchen on our own!

Cabinets

The cabinets we chose were the Klearvue Cabinets from Menards. The style cabinet is Stromma and they are in the color white!

We really love them now that they are assembled haha. They literally came in individual pieces.  And by individual pieces, I mean like every door, every hinge, every roll out cabinet needed to be put together. Our garage was filled with a million boxes. It was quite overwhelming to say the least! We haven’t had any issues with the cabinets yet and love that we were able to get them for an affordable price with all the “upgrades” we wanted. Every cabinet has a slow close door which we LOVE. Also, majority of the base cabinets are drawers rather than doors. The ones that do have a door are filled with roll our shelves which makes it so easy to access everything. We have so so much storage and everything has a place.

Hardware

I don’t have the exact brand of the hardware but we got all of it from Menards! The bar pulls on the upper cabinets we actually found on clearance which was awesome! We were really scared to put the hardware on because there weren’t any pre-drilled holes and it is completely terrifying to drill holes in your brand new kitchen cabinets haha. It took a lot of concentration but we managed just fine!

Countertops

The countertops were done by Menomonee Plastics. They are formica in the color Calacatta Marble. The bench is also laminate and is in the color Wide Planked Walnut! We went back and forth for awhile on if we should go with laminate or stone and ultimately decided on laminate because this isn’t our forever home and we while we wanted to increase the value of our home, we didn’t want to go overboard and have the value be too high for our subdivision.

We couldn’t be happier with how our kitchen turned out!

If anyone has any other questions on where we got something from, I would be happy to answer that!

Love,

Nicole B
