My first baby turned TWO this week. Her smile brightens up any room, no matter what. She is sweet, so incredibly smart, loving, and I’m convinced she is the best big sister in the world. She sleeps with a stuffy from all of her favorite movies (and she is OBSESSED with movies) – her current favorites are Trolls and Zootopia. Her Moana doll is her BFF and needs to be in sight at all times (luckily we found an extra on eBay), she loves to “dip” all of her foods, she says “I miss you” when she is extra loving (we are pretty positive she things of it as I Love You), she’s a dancer and a singer, when she gives a thumbs up she just points her finger up, she memorized where all the dogs in our neighborhood live, and she knows full well that she runs the show around here. To know her is to love her! We had the best time celebrating our girl and she was in absolute heaven!
Today I’m sharing some photos and details from the party. I really love decorating and planning a good party, but try to stay conscious of keeping on budget. IMO, the easiest and cheapest decoration for a party is a balloon arch! They make such a statement (and a darling backdrop for pictures)!
There are tons of tutorials online about how to make them and I think everyone does them a little differently, but here is how we make ours:
5 Steps to make a balloon arch:
Supplies: Balloon Strip, Assortment of Balloons, Fishing Line, Command Hooks, glue dots, and a Balloon Pump (This one isn’t necessary but makes it go so much quicker and I would highly recommend it!)
- Select your balloon colors – for our Minnie arch, we used red, black, white, black & white polka dot, and red & white polka dot (We got all of the balloons from Hobby Lobby)
- Blow up your balloons in sizes Large, Medium, and Small (The amount is going to vary depending on how large you want your arch).
- Stick the balloons into the balloon strip alternating sizes (save some of the small size balloons for after it is hung up to add to the “holes”)
- Attach your command strips on the wall and wrap the fishing line through the balloon strip to hang it
- Use the glue dots to attach small balloons once the arch is hung
That’s it! Like I said, its so easy and so inexpensive. A must have for any party!
We got all of our plates and napkins from Hobby Lobby and I ordered these Mickey and Minnie ears. I made the Marina letters and the Mickey banner out of black sparkle paper from Hobby Lobby by tracing the letters and cutting them out (for a total cost of $2.00)!
For our main entree, we had Hot Diggity Dogs and Mickey Mouse “Club” house sandwiches (Which I forgot to take pictures of!). I bought this cookie cutter and cut all of the bread, deli meat, and cheese into Mickey shapes! We also had Mickey goldfish!
For desserts, I made her cake myself (a simple funfetti cake and a little first time fondant work ha)! I bought these rice crispy sheets and used the Mickey cookie cutter to cut them. We ordered plain white frosted cupcakes from the grocery store and added 2 mini Oreos on each one to look like Mickey ears!
Marina’s outfit was this leotard, this skirt, these bracelets, and I bought the 2 from Hobby Lobby and hot glued it onto the one of the Minnie ears from the big set I bought!
